Sporting Clays Associations
About the NSCA
NSCA is the largest Sporting Clays association in the world and the governing body for the sport in the U.S. We keep records of our members’ scores in competition, register shoots for the clubs and associations, hold the National Championship each year, and provide myriad awards for outstanding achievements.
NSCA MISSION
The NSCA is dedicated to the development of the sport at all levels of participation and vows to create an atmosphere of healthy competition and meaningful fellowship within its membership. Shooters who wish to compete can enter sporting clays tournaments and be competitive immediately. The NSCA also offers the hunter a recreational target shooting sport that will strengthen hunting and gun safety skills and extend “hunting” seasons.
About American Field Sporting
If you don't innovate, you don't grow, and if you don't grow, you eventually die.
That's what American Field Sporting is, a new game in the sporting clays portfolio, designed (with your participation) to be safe, entertaining, challenging, fun, flexible, and unburdened by too many rules.
The hope is that AFS, not only gives people who currently shoot clays target sports another reason to keep shooting, but attracts new participants to sporting clays and provides an opportunity for growth.
Don't think of AFS as a replacement for existing games or sports. It's an addition, an experiment, and hopefully, becomes a game that people shoot and enjoy clubs throw around the world.
About FITASC
It involves strategically placed clay target throwers (called traps) set to simulate live game birds/animals- teal, rabbits, pheasant etc. Shooters on each layout or "parcour", shoot in turn at various combinations of single and double clay birds. Each station or "peg" on a parcour will have a menu card that lets the shooter know the sequence of clay birds he or she will be shooting at (i.e. which trap the clay bird will be coming from). The shooters will be presented with 4 or 5 two-shot singles which they will rotate through and then two pair. In Old Style FITASC there are three pegs on each parcour, with 25 shots to a parcour.
